Invitation to Understanding Islam

Posted by Hashim Abd Ghani On 10:34 AM

ONE God,
ONE  Humanity,
ONE Religion,
MANY Prophets (Peace be upon them)

One God
And your llâh (God) is One God, llâh (God-Allâh),
Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (there is none who has the right to be worshipped but He,
The Most  Gracious, the Most Merciful.
(  Al-Baqarah 2 : 163 )

God’s Name is Allah
Say  ( O Muhammad صلى الله علي وسلم   ) : He is Âllah, (the) One.
Âllah-us Samad  ( الحاخات السيد يصمد إليه فى   ) [Âllah – the Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need,  (He neither eats nor drinks].
He begets not, nor was He begotten.
And there is none co-equal or comparable to Him.
 (  Al Ikhlâsh 112 : 1 – 4 )

One Humanity
O, Mankind! We have   created you from a male and a female,
and made you into nations and tribe, that you may know one another.
Verily, the most honourable   of  you with Âllah  is that (believer) who has At-Taqwâ [i.e. he is one of  the Al-Muttaqûn (the pious)]. Verily, Âllah is  All-Knowing, Well-Acquainted (with all things).
(  Al Hujuraat 49 : 13 )

What did Allah promise mankind?
We said : “Get down all of you from this place (Paradise),
then whenever  there comes to you Guidance from Me,
and comes who follows My Guidance,
there  shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieve. (38)

But  those who disbelieve and deny Our Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc).
- such  are the dwellers of the Fire. They shall abide therein forever. (39)
(  Al Baqarah 2 : 38 & 39 )

One Religion
Truly, the religion with  Âllah is Islâm.
Those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) did not differ except,
out of mutual jealousy, after knowledge had come to them.
And whoever disbelieves in the Ayât  (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Âllah, surely, Âllah is Swift in calling to account.
(  Ali 'Imran 3 : 19 )

What happened to Allah’s Religion ?
Mankind were  one  community and Âllah sent Prophets  with  glad tidings and warnings and with them He sent down Scripture in truth to judge between people in matters wherein they differed. And only those to whom   (the Scripture) was given differed concerning it after clear proofs had come to them through hatred, one to another. Then   Âllah by His Leave guided those who believed to the truth of that wherein they differed. And Âllah guides whom He wills to a Straight Path.
(  Al Baqarah 2 : 213 )

Many Prophets, Same Message
And verily, We have sent among them every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming) :
“Worship Âllah (Alone),  and avoid  (or keep away from) Tâghût (all false deities i.e. do not worship  Tâghût  besides Âllah )”.  Then of them were some  upon whom the straying was justified. So travel through the land and see what was the end of those who denied (the truth).
( An Nahl 16 : 36 )

And , indeed We have sent  Messengers before you ( O Muhammad صلى الله علي وسلم   ) :
of  some of them We have related to you their  story.
And of them We  have not related to you their story,
and it was not given to any Messenger that he should bring a sign except by the Leave of  Âllah.
But, when comes the Commandment (i.e., the torment)  of   Âllah,
the matter will be decided with truth,
and the followers of falsehood will then lose (everything)
( Ghâfir 40 : 78 )

Why so many different religions?
And verily, this your religion (of Islâmic Monotheism) is one religion,
and I am your Lord, so fear  (keep your duty to) Me. ( 52 )

But they (men) have   broken their religion among them into sects,
each group rejoicing in what is with it (as its belief). ( 53 )
( Al Mu'minuun 23 : 52 & 53 )

Why not follow the Religion of all Prophets ?
Say  (O Muslim), “We believe in  Âllah  and that which has been sent down to us
and that which has been sent Ibrâhim (Abraham) Ismâ’îl ( Ishmael), Ishâq (Isaac), Yâ’qûb ( Jacob),
and to Al-Asbât [the offspring of the twelve sons of  Yâ’qûb ( Jacob)], and that which has been given to Mûsa (Moses) and  ‘Isâ (Jesus), and that which has been given to the Prophets from their Lord.
We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we have submitted (in Islâm)”.
(  Al Baqarah 2 : 136 )

What was the “ Abrahamic Faith ”?
Ibrâhim (Abraham) was neither  a Jew nor a Christian,
but he  was a true  Muslim Hanîf (Islâmic Monotheism – to worship none but Âllah Alone)
and he was not of Al-Mushrikûn.
( Ali 'Imran 3 : 67 )

Who was the Last Prophet ?
Muhammad ( صلى الله علي وسلم   ) is not the father of your men,
but he is the Messenger of Âllah and the last (end) of the Prophets.
And  Âllah  is Ever All Knower of everything.  ( 40 )
( Al Ahzâb 33 : 40 )

And We have not sent you (O Muhammad صلى الله علي وسلم   )
except as a giver of glad tidings and a warner to all mankind,
but most of men know not.
( Saba' 34 : 28 )

What is Allah’s Final Revelation ?
It is He Who has sent down  the Book (the Qur’ân) to you (Muhammad صلى الله علي وسلم   )  with truth, confirming what came before it. And He sent down the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel ),  (3)

Aforetime, as a guidance to mankind.
And He sent down the criterion [of judgement between right and wrong (this Qur’ân)].
Truly, those who disbelieve in the Ayât  (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations etc.) of Âllah, for them there is a severe torment;
and Âllah is All-Mighty, All-Able of Retribution. (4)
( Ali 'Imran 3 : 3 & 4 )

Why follow Muhammad ?
Say ( O Muhammad صلى الله علي وسلم   to mankind): “If you (really) love  Âllah then follow me (i.e. accept  Islâmic Monotheism, follow the  Qur’ân  and the Sunnah),
Âllah  will love you and forgive your sins. And Âllah  is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
( Ali 'Imran 3 : 31 )

Indeed, in the Messenger of Âllah  (O Muhammad صلى الله علي وسلم   ) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes for (the Meeting with) Âllah and the Last Day, and who remembers Âllah much.
(Al-Ahzab 33 : 21)

Why Islam ?
This day I have  perfected your Religion for you, completed My Favour upon you,
and have chosen for you Islâm as your religion.
But as for him who is forced by severe hunger,
with  no inclination to sin (such as eat these above mentioned meats),
then  surely, Âllah  Oft-Giving, Most Merciful.
(Al-Maidah 5 : 3 [ ending verse])
