In performing Hajj pilgrimage, the pilgrim have three choices of how they want to implement the Fifth Pillar of Islam. The options are as follows:
a. QIRAAN - The pilgrim enters the state of ihram with the intention of both Umrah and Hajj. A single ihram is adopted for both. On reaching Makkah, the pilgrim first perform Umrah and thereafter he performs Hajj in the same ihram; hence he will remain in ihram until the end of hajj.
b. TAMATTU’ - The pilgrim enters the state of ihram with the intention of Umrah only. After the completion of Umrah, this ihram is removed and another ihram is adopted before 8th of Zul Hijjah with the intention of performing Hajj.
c. IFRAAD - The pilgrim enters the state of ihram with the intention of Hajj only. He does not combine it with Umrah. After entering the ihram, the pilgrim will remain under the restrictions until end of Hajj.
a. For MAN - Two pieces of cloth that are not attached / sewn, one piece worn to cover your ‘aurat’ in between from the navel and the knee and another piece used to cover the shoulders and body. Every cloth measuring 2 ½ meters and preferable ( sunnat ) in white color.
b. For WOMAN - Dress your ihram may in any fashion dress provided cover all of your body except the face and two palms and preferable ( sunnat ) in white color.
